180 Nigerians repatriated from Libya by IOM and NEMA

IOM and NEMA successfully repatriated 180 Nigerians stranded in Libya. They arrived in Lagos and received assistance to aid their reintegration.

 

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have successfully repatriated 180 Nigerians who were stranded in Libya.

The returnees landed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday evening, aboard a charter flight operated by Al-Buraq Airlines.

The group comprised 67 adult females, 55 adult males, 24 female children, 18 male children, and 16 infants.

Upon arrival, the Nigerian Immigration Service conducted biometric profiling to ensure accurate documentation and support for the returnees.

Several government agencies were present to provide essential humanitarian assistance aimed at helping the returnees reintegrate smoothly into society.

NEMA’s statement praised the crucial role played by IOM in aiding stranded Nigerians, reaffirming the organisation’s dedication to protecting the rights and dignity of migrants.

This successful evacuation underscores ongoing efforts to assist Nigerians in vulnerable conditions abroad, offering them a chance to rebuild their lives back home.
