Bolt is launching its rider verification feature in Nigeria, allowing customers to verify themselves with a selfie and ID.
Bolt is introducing a new rider verification feature for its Nigerian customers. This allows riders to verify their identity by taking a selfie before placing a ride-hailing order.
The verification ensures that the selfie is of a real, present person with a clearly visible face. Additionally, customers must upload an identification document, which will be cross-checked against the selfie for validity.
This feature is part of Bolt’s ongoing investment in safety features, aimed at fostering trust between drivers and riders. The verification process only takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes and is available on the latest app version.
Rider verification complements existing safety tools, such as trip verification, the in-app Safety Toolkit, and trip safety monitoring. These tools offer drivers and riders increased peace of mind by providing emergency assistance, trip audio recording, and route monitoring.
Lola Masha, Bolt’s Regional Manager for North & West Africa, explained that rider verification is the most requested feature by driver-partners in Nigeria.
It reinforces the platform’s commitment to building mutual trust, which is essential for maintaining safety and confidence in the ride-hailing service.
