    Burna Boy tops Spotify as most followed African artist

    Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, has clinched the coveted title of the most followed African artist on Spotify, the renowned streaming platform, with an impressive 8.1 million followers. This milestone solidifies his position as a global powerhouse in the music industry.

    The accolades don’t stop there for Burna Boy, as the 2023 Spotify Wrapped report reveals that he also secured the title of the most streamed artiste in Africa, further cementing his status as a dominant force in the music scene.

    Following closely behind Burna Boy is Egyptian singer and actor Amr Diab, with a substantial 6.8 million followers, securing his spot as the second most followed African artist on Spotify.

    In the top ranks of this prestigious list, we also find Nigerian icons Wizkid and Davido, positioned at number five and number seven respectively, with 4.9 million and 4.37 million followers each. Rising star Rema claims the eighth spot with an impressive 4 million followers, showcasing the rich diversity and talent within the African music landscape.

    The comprehensive list, comprising 18 distinguished artists, reflects a remarkable representation of various African nations. Among the featured countries, Nigeria leads with a commendable ten artists, followed by Egypt with four representatives. Additionally, Morocco, Algeria, and South Africa each contribute two artists to the prestigious lineup.

    The complete list includes Burna Boy (8.1m), Amr Diab (6.8m), Sherine (5.45m), Soolking (5m), Wizkid (4.9m), Tamer Hosny (4.6m), Davido (4.37m), Rema (4m), Seether (3.3m), Asake (2.85m), Ayra Starr (2.46m), Fireboy (2.419m), Kizz Daniel (2.418m), ElGrandeToto (2.353m), Hamza Namira (2.353m), Omah Lay (2.34m), Saad Lamjarred (2.058m), and Olamide (2.051m).
