GSMA Report: enterprises shift focus to revenue growth and cybersecurity in digital transformation

Published:

GSMA Intelligence reveals that businesses are prioritising revenue growth and cybersecurity in their digital transformation strategies, with rising investments.

A new report by GSMA Intelligence highlights a significant shift in enterprise priorities as digital transformation continues to shape business strategies.

According to the research titled The Rise of Digital Industries: Navigating Enterprise Needs, Investments, and Supplier Decisions, 60 per cent of businesses now focus on driving revenue growth, enhancing customer experience, and improving competitive positioning, moving away from cost-cutting objectives.

The report underscores how enterprises are increasingly recognising the importance of securing their digital assets and ensuring business continuity amid growing cybersecurity threats.

As businesses accelerate their digital transformation efforts, cybersecurity has become a top concern.

The report reveals that alongside innovation, enterprises are committed to investing in robust cybersecurity measures to mitigate risks posed by cyber threats.

The report also reveals a strong trend toward digital technology investments. Enterprises are expected to allocate 9 per cent of their revenue to digital technologies between 2024 and 2026, with that number increasing to 11 per cent by 2027-2030.

This growth signals a growing commitment to digital infrastructure and innovation as companies pursue competitive advantages.

Enterprises are increasingly turning to generalist suppliers—such as hyperscalers and telecom network/equipment vendors—who offer near-full-stack solutions.

The report indicates that businesses are keen to partner with suppliers that can support their entire digital transformation journey, integrating technologies like 5G, AI, IoT, and cloud to improve efficiency, security, and revenue growth.

While enterprises are making significant investments, the report highlights the challenges they face, particularly around the cost of implementation and the complexity of technology integration.

These challenges are expected to drive demand for tech orchestrators—multi-service suppliers who can guide businesses through their transformation processes.

Pablo Iacopino, Head of Research at GSMAi, commented, “Enterprises of all sizes are eager to advance their digital transformation and are making the necessary investment.

As a result, supplier competition is fierce. Telcos need to go beyond just providing network services since enterprises are increasingly looking for partners who can help them throughout their full digital transformation journeys.”

The growing focus on revenue growth, cybersecurity, and strategic partnerships is shaping the future of enterprise digital transformation.
