LG Electronics has reinforced its commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians by commissioning a solar-powered treated borehole and installing streetlights in the Oriba community of Epe Local Government Area, Lagos State.

This initiative exemplifies the company’s dedication to corporate social responsibility, focusing on sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

During the commissioning event, the managing director of LG Electronics Nigeria, represented by Mr. Paul Mba, the marketing manager, emphasised the company’s goal to give back to communities facing challenges in accessing clean drinking water. He stated, “At LG, we believe in empowering communities through sustainable development. Our donation of solar-powered boreholes and streetlights to the Oriba community is a testament to our commitment to improving people’s lives. We are confident that these contributions will provide immediate benefits and foster long-term growth and development in Oriba.”

The project features five water points powered by six 210-watt solar panels and ten 800-watt solar-powered streetlights strategically installed throughout the community. These efforts were based on a needs assessment and extensive consultations with local stakeholders, ensuring the solutions would have a meaningful impact.

Aare Adesegun Hassan, a community leader, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the residents, highlighting the significant improvements these contributions would bring. “The street lights will improve safety and security, and the borehole will ensure access to clean water for our people. These contributions will have a lasting impact on our community, and we thank LG for their support and commitment to our welfare,” he said.

Chief S.B. Olukolu, Patron of the Oriba Youth Movement, praised the project, emphasising how clean water and improved lighting will enhance the community’s overall quality of life. He stated, “These initiatives are not just about infrastructure; they symbolise progress, development, and a brighter future for our community.”

The commissioning of the borehole and streetlights was met with celebration from the Oriba youth, who recognised the transformative impact these developments will have on their daily lives.

This project not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the foundation for long-term community growth and well-being.
