MTN Nigeria has launched its “See Naija” campaign to change global perceptions of Nigeria and promote the country’s tourism potential.
MTN Nigeria has introduced the “See Naija” campaign, a bold initiative designed to reshape global perceptions of Nigeria. By highlighting the nation’s rich cultural heritage, diversity, and resilience, MTN aims to counter negative stereotypes.
The campaign focuses on showcasing the positive aspects of Nigeria, positioning it as a vibrant tourism destination.
Tourism in Nigeria currently contributes only 1.2% to 1.5% to the nation’s GDP, much lower than other African countries. MTN’s “See Naija” campaign aims to increase awareness of Nigeria’s tourism potential and promote local and international travel.
It encourages Nigerians to share videos and content about their experiences to show the world Nigeria’s true beauty.
Emamoke O, MTN’s General Manager of Brand & Communication, stated that the campaign aims to flood the internet with positive stories about Nigeria. The initiative seeks to change global search results, which are often filled with negative stereotypes. MTN’s COO, Ayham Moussa, expressed excitement about the project, noting Nigeria’s “fighting and winning spirit” as key factors that make the country unique.
The “See Naija” campaign also introduces a social media challenge, urging Nigerians to upload 2-minute videos showcasing Nigeria’s beauty.
MTN hopes the initiative will create a platform that encourages more tourism, presenting Nigeria as a destination worth visiting for its culture, landscape, and history.
The campaign is expected to make a long-lasting impact on Nigeria’s tourism sector and global reputation.
