Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Empowers Over 1,800 Youths

Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Ltd., a leading consumer packaged goods company and a member of the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (CCHBC), has once again demonstrated its commitment to nurturing future leaders in Nigeria.

During the 2023 campus edition of its #YouthEmpowered initiative, NBC trained over 1,800 youths on entrepreneurship and career skills, reaffirming its dedication to empowering the next generation.

The #YouthEmpowered initiative, now in its 6th year, is part of the Coca-Cola HBC’s commitment to impacting the lives of at least one million youths across 28 countries by 2025. The 2023 edition commenced on December 12th and 13th at Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) and the University of Lagos (Unilag), respectively.

Olukemi Ogunsakin, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Specialist at NBC highlighted the importance of fostering leadership capabilities among youths, stating, “With our YouthEmpowered initiative, we are looking at helping young Nigerians hone high-demand professional and entrepreneurial skills that will enable them to contribute meaningfully to the progress of our society.”

The first phase of the initiative has already been completed in Yabatech and Unilag, with plans to reach other communities across the country in 2024, starting with Lagos State University in the first quarter.

Adedoyin Shittu, Program Officer at Karis and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation expressed pride in collaborating with NBC on this project. He emphasized the partnership’s focus on addressing the challenges faced by today’s youth and laying the foundation for a brighter and more inclusive future.

Mr. Alaba Olalekan, the Dean of Students’ Affairs at Yaba College of Technology, extended his appreciation to NBC for selecting the college as the venue for the training. He acknowledged the significance of entrepreneurship and career employability training in empowering students with valuable skills for their professional journeys.

During the two-day workshop, participants received comprehensive career development training covering topics such as Financial Literacy, CV Writing, LinkedIn Profile Optimization, Project Management, Negotiation Skills, Artificial Intelligence, and Business Planning. The sessions were facilitated by industry experts and thought leaders, including Joseph Onaolapo, Oluwatobi Sola-Abiola, Samuel Shokunbi, and Adewale Onagbesan.
