Entries for the highly anticipated ninth season of the popular music reality show, Nigerian Idol, have officially opened. The theme for this edition is aptly titled “Dare to Dream,” reflecting the aspirations and ambitions of young and talented Nigerians. MultiChoice Nigeria, the organizers of the show, announced that the online entry submission process commenced on January 19 and is set to close at midnight on January 29.
Aspiring contestants, aged between 16 and 28, are invited to take the bold step of auditioning for Nigerian Idol Season Nine by following a simple process. They are required to record a 30-second clip showcasing their singing prowess with any song of their choice. The recorded clip should then be uploaded to the official Nigerian Idol portal at www.africamagic.tv/nigerianidol.
Dr. Busola Tejumola, the Executive Head of Content and Channels West Africa at MultiChoice, expressed the company’s commitment to nurturing young talent and providing premium entertainment to its audience. Dr. Tejumola highlighted the impact of previous editions of Nigerian Idol in inspiring young Nigerians to pursue their dreams in the music industry. She mentioned that the success stories from past seasons now contribute to the rich tapestry of African narratives and serve as an inspiration for others.
Season Nine promises to be bigger and more entertaining than its predecessors, building on the legacy of discovering and promoting exceptional musical talents. MultiChoice also announced that the show will be sponsored by the soft drink brand Bigi and gadget manufacturer Tecno.
In the eighth edition, Victory Gbakara emerged as the winner, clinching the grand prize worth N100 million. The prize package included an N35 million cash prize, a car, and a recording contract. Nigerian Idol Season Nine is expected to unearth new talents and provide a platform for participants to showcase their musical abilities while pursuing their dreams in the music industry.
