UAE has not lifted visa ban on Nigeria – Presidency

Published:

THE presidency has stated that United Arab Emirates (UAE) is yet to relax the visa ban on Nigeria.

According to reports, the prohibition seems to have been lifted. However, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has denied the charges made about him.

“UAE has not resumed visa issuance to Nigerians. The document in circulation is not authorized either by the Nigerian government or the UAE,” Onanuga posted on his X handle on Tuesday evening.

In October 2022, the UAE prohibited Nigerians and people of 19 other African countries from accessing its borders.

Following the move, the country’s authorities instructed travel brokers and commercial partners to refuse all applications.

Owing to the ban, both countries’ authorities have been in diplomatic logjam about travel restrictions.
