Following the devastating explosion that occurred in the Bodija neighborhood of Oyo State’s capital city of Ibadan, Unilever Nigeria has shown its dedication to corporate social responsibility by assisting the impacted community.
As part of its efforts to support relief and recovery operations in the wake of the tragic occurrence, the international corporation has given a variety of its products to the Oyo State Government.
The offering, which includes body treatments, toothpaste, seasoning, and other health and hygiene items, is intended to give those affected by the explosion comfort and relief right away. The group that was in charge of delivering Unilever’s message of compassion and unity to the State Government was headed by Mr. Godfrey Adejumoh, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Business at Unilever Nigeria.
Expressing empathy for the affected individuals and families, Adejumoh emphasized Unilever’s commitment to complementing the state government’s efforts in providing support and assistance during this challenging period. He reiterated the company’s belief in standing by the communities where it operates, emphasizing solidarity and collective efforts in overcoming adversity.
The donation was warmly received by Prof. Temitope Alonge, the Head of the Emergency Medical Team and Special Adviser to the state Governor, who expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Oyo State Government. Alonge acknowledged the significance of Unilever’s timely and much-needed support, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on the affected individuals and families once resettlement efforts are underway.
The event also witnessed the presence of key representatives from both Unilever Nigeria and the Oyo State Government. Adegboyega Adesanya, Regional Sales Manager at Unilever Nigeria, Afomre Ubogu, Corporate Communications Specialist, and Goodluck Ehis, CD Unilever Sustainable Living Plan Manager (South), were among those present to symbolize Unilever’s commitment to sustainable living and community support.
